Listening to a Sense of Place was the thesis project of past Salmon Coast board member Jennifer Schine. The multi-faceted work included the production of an award-winning documentary, focused on local legend Bill Proctor and the location of Echo Bay.

The award-winning documentary, Listening to a Sense of Place, features Bill Proctor, a local resident and mentor to generations of Salmon Coaster scholars, as he shares his vast knowledge about how to understand and exercise care for place.

Salmon Coast aims to support multidisciplinary research, including artistic-oriented projects such as this one. The film and its associated research have reached beyond academia through film, radio and art installations. To learn why this work has such an impact you can view the short film here.
